OET Ocupational English Test

The OET (Occupational English Test) is a well-respected test of English language for healthcare professionals. Developed over 30 years ago, it is now backed by Cambridge Assessment.

As an alternative to the IELTS exam it allows students to study general medical English and English for specific medical professions.

OET is available for the following 12 professions: dentistry, dietetics, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, podiatry, radiography, speech pathology and veterinary science.

OET assesses listening, reading, speaking and writing. The listening and reading parts have the same content for all healthcare professionals. The speaking and writing parts are specific to profession, based on typical workplace situations.

It is a paper- based examination where grades range from A to E and the score validity is limited to 2 years.
